Obj: TSC: use their notes, and focus on important info to review for atoms test on Tuesday.

Bell Work: Fill in grid showing AM, AN, Protons, Neutrons, Electrons.

Teacher Activity: TTW discuss objective, bell work; hand students 3x5 card for notes for test, facilitate a review for the atoms test.

Student Activity: TSW discuss objective; complete bell work, fill out notes on 3x5 card, participate in review, including asking questions.

Academic Vocabulary: review vocab

Assessment: Q & A for review.

Modifications: Assist students with 3x5 card; restate and reword responses for clarity when doing Q & A.

ELL/ESL: Ask questions (pre-written) in Espanol.

Obj: TSC: demonstrate mastery by completing test with 80% passing rate.

Bell Work: none

Teacher Activity: TTW hand out testing materials, go over instructions, and give instructions for EC and classroom assignment due Thursday.

Student Activity: TSW discuss objective; complete test, and pick up EC and classroom assignment due Thursday.

Assessment: Test results

Modifications: Test read to students, shortened answer choices.

ELL/ESL: Student assistance available.

Obj: TSC: begin to develop an understanding of why and how chemical equations are balanced.

Bell Work: Determine the number of atoms in the following: CO2 + H2O à C6H12O6 + O2 ZnS +O2 à ZnO+SO2

Teacher Activity: TTW discuss objective, go over bell work; introduce balancing equations Brain Pop. Show power point to go along with lab activity on Thursday/ discuss Law of Conservation of Mass and why equations must balance.

Student Activity: TSW discuss objective; watch/discuss Brain Pop Video and PowerPoint to prepare for Thursday Lab: Learning to balance chemical equations.

Assessment: Q & A during/after Brain Pop and PowerPoint.

Modifications: Assist students with vocabulary, adjust Q & A.

Bell Work: Answer the following: What does the Law of Conservation of Mass state?

Student Activity: TSW discuss objective; complete bell work, begin lab writing down what needs to be recorded. This lab will probably need to be completed on Friday.

Student Activity: TSW discuss objective and bell work; complete lab, if necessary. Discuss.

Academic Vocabulary: none new.

Assessment: Completion/correctness of lab will assess a basic understanding of balancing chemical formulas.

Modifications: assistance from teacher/aide along with lab partners.
